I been living in the U.S. for more than 20 years legally, I was wondering how I can apply for U.S. citizenship and not get denied because I never applied for Selective Service when I was able too, between the ages of 18-25, but I am now 26 about to turn 27.

Why didn't you register? USCIS will want to know. Was it because you didn't know? or were you notified and just ignored them?

Not registering for Selective Service can be considered evidence of bad moral character. To qualify for citizenship you need to demonstrate good moral character for at least the last five years. Since you could have registered at age 26, it has not been five years. You should discuss this issue with an immigration attorney before filing.

Read the USCIS Guide to Citizenship: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=652d04e2d331e010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD&vgnextchannel=96719c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

If you are a permanent resident in the US and you renew it every 10 years like everybody does it so you are OK...But if you never renew it then is a problem...Well even if a person is permanent resident still every 10 years that card expires....If you do renew it. You are OK just apply for citizenship and you will get it in about 4 months...Ofcourse need to have income taxes for the last 3 years...No criminal record etc...

You may still apply for Selective service. You feel you have the right to be here but did not want to defend that right? Since we do not have the draft your still safe from being taken in the military.

You can find all your answers and applications for citizenship on this site.

It's not too late. See page 29 of the guide to naturalization, which tells you how to register even after you turn 26, and what to do then:
