Yes, because legally it isn't your car unless you have finished paying for it, so if you're behind you are out of luck

If the repo guy is having a good day he would not need to call. He could just spot your car on the street and hookup his tow truck to it. He could be gone within 10 minutes with your car and be back to an impound lot before you even know it is gone.

I've seen the good repo guys get cars in less than one minute so one hour is 59 minutes too late

If it is a legitimate repo, yes he can. Actually he is doing you a big favour if he calls, because some people bolt and hide the vehicle. Of course, all bets are off if that happens.

a repo man can take your car at any hour. if you dont pay your car note on time when its due and you miss some payments, they will take your $hit from you. remember you owe the bank, the bank pays them to recoup their property when you fail to hold up to your end of the contract.

The repossession agent is acting on behalf of the owner of the vehicle, and could come get it without calling you if he wanted to. Pay it off if you want to keep it.
