I have to break up with my boyfriend. I don't know how. I'm horrible at confrontation, and I could never work up the nerve to just do it in a conversation.. or start that conversation.
So how do I do it without being a total *****?

In person and in a relatively public place, like a park, if you think there is a chance that he will go psycho.
You can start out by thinking him for your good times and what a great boyfriend he has been. Tell him that he taught you a lot about yourself and what you want and that you hope your relationship prepared him for his next or his final love. Just be honest (unless the truth is TOO mean). Tell him you don't regret the relationship but you feel like it's time to end it. Tell him that you don't feel like it's right to waste his time when you know it's not going anywhere anymore. If he gets mad, stay calm. Dumping hurts. He may not take it well. But you can't feel too bad because it has to happen and it really is for his own good. He should be with a girl who wants him.

Write a letter, send a email, but you gotta do it if you don't care about him in that way away more. You're not helping him or yourself, if you don't do anything. Face to face is the best way to do this stuff. I personally I wouldn't want my relationship to end through a text message or email.

Just say "(insert boyfriend's name here), I've been doing some thinking and I've decided I don't want to continue our relationship anymore." This will get things started. The rest is up to you.

definately just do it to his face. cell phones text messages and e-mails are a no no. just grow some balls and be honest. thats the best advice i can think of. i have only dumped one guy and it was so hard. broke my heart to see someone so dissappointed because they only cared about me and i didnt want him in my life anymore. such a sad face........ OH GOOD LUCK.

you need to think about why you want to break up with him. being told crap like... its not you its me,or im to busy with other stuff. its not fair to them because then they dont know what to fix for their next relationship. so just be honest. he will understand eventually and make sure you do it in person.
