Here's the thing... We believe most deeply in the things we have experienced. Anything that is merely learned with the head, and not the heart, will never enter into the deepest part of who we are. Simple example: You can tell me fire is hot, and I may believe you. But if I burn myself with fire, that experience will become a part of me in a way that mere teaching cannot. Make sense so far?
Now I do not know of a single atheist who has ever had an experience with what I would call the supernatural, the Divine, or the Numinous. Some force or power outside of the Material world, something beyond the empirical perception of the five senses.
But many (not all) of the most spiritual people have had just those experiences. So for someone who has experienced the Divine, atheism is utterly incomprehensible. It would be a bit like having been burned, and then told that fire is not hot.
(BTW, I'm not arguing whether those experiences are objectively valid or not; in fact it is the very subjective nature of the experiences that makes them so real to those who have them and so impenetrable to those who haven't).

Of course it is hard for us to understand. And, I personally do not think that atheists are bad people. In fact, some have given me answers to my questions that are very deep and very thoughtful. I think for me, the most frustrating thing is that as a Christian I am not able to convey the knowledge that God exists. It is not just a belief for me or even a committment to some intellectual idea. I walk with Him...24/7. He is as much a part of me as are my eyes or my hand or my foot. There just is no way to describe what it is like to someone who has not experienced this closeness with one so powerful as God. I don't hate atheists or anyone else. On the contrary, I love them all and wish more than anything that I could somehow transfer what I KNOW to them for even a moment so they would understand. I am not talking about God in the sense of what the Bible says. I do not take it literally but I do know he exists and I do know that he does love me.

No actually it is easy. You can do things without worrying about going to hell. I would also be an atheist if it was not for one thing;
I have experienced some miracles that are also illogical. Things I can not explain. My cousin while in the hospital had a near death experience and saw an afterlife. When she returned to her body she remembered the pain and the doctors and nurses euphoria with shouts of "She's back!!!" ie .she died and came back to life. How can science explain that? A dream? She was clinically dead. Besides you can only remember dreams for a short while. She remembers every detail 25 years later.
Christianity also teaches us to release our negative emotions and instill positive ones. That makes for a healthier, happier, psychological person. (mind you not all Christians follow that). Following the teachings of Christ is not easy. You hear a lot of people calling Christians hypocrites. We are just human. We are not allow to judge, but like all humans we judge and we have to be reminded. Believe me turning the other cheek is easier said than done.
Also in tough times I put my trust in God. I find that a lot better and healthier than my friends who turn to smoking and alcohol abuse.

No, it is not hard at all. We all start there but some get it earlier than others. Even some scientists do. It took me a long time to understand and I went from atheist to pagan to the truth. Actually over about 30 years. God believes in you even when you don't believe in him. Just remember that He says in his word that many are called but few are chosen. That could be the reason why some just never get it. . God bless

I walked the atheist path for 30 yrs....believed all of it, 100%. Love science, love math, excell at both. Uncle even has worked for NASA, so its in the blood. I wanted to be an astronaunt when I was a kid and I followed the Space Shuttle first hand for over 7 yrs when it was first created.
Doing research on 9/11, Freemasons, Illuminati, Skull and Bones, JKF, JKF Jr., RJK, Bombing of the Cole, Columbine High School, Oklahoma bombing, Ancient Egypt, Mayan, Native Cherokee, other Native Indian tribes, and this list can go on and on for a bit. It can make Santa's toy list look to shame.
While doing all these studies, some 2000+ hours of studies since early fall. I kept coming across times I had to use the Bible as a referrance or check point in my studies. And over time, I started to catch myself saying....huh...Bible was right on that one. Then more n more of those happened.
Then I steered from all my studies and focused on the Bible and even pulled up the Quran to cross referrance with it. And no matter the question I tossed at it, I was shown the answer.
I then realized the Bible is like that trick picture we have all seen. Look at it one way, you see an old hag...look again, and you see a young lady with a hat on. The Bible is the same way. Most only see the old hag....but with clearer glasses, one can see the young lady with the hat as well.
Seeing that lady....is where people say..." you won't understand till you believe ".
Science led me to the Bible...and the more I study it, the more I realize it speaks of us today, what is going on, and everything. Sure many have said they live in time of Revelations in the past, but they weren't doing all the homework nor had access to the information like we do today.
Even UFO's that you see today are part of it. They are mentioned in the Bible 362 times. Chariots of Fire can easily be the red/orange shapped UFO we see. The pillar that led Moses through the desert is exact description of the cigar UFO we see. Other passages mention horseless carriages made of metal in the sky, that is normal UFOs. Bible even tells us what they are. Demonic, the Fallen ones, the Nephemlim, the children of the Gods, Zeus, Venus, etc.
Many laugh, but the info is there, and science provides it. Most think ancient Egypt was like stone age, but they are so wrong. They had batteries, they could fly, they did brain surgery that is more advanced than even todays, they understood the electric grid of the earth using LAN-lines, and even knew our solar system long before we ever did.
To think we are advanced....is so naive its almost funny.

Atheism basically has nothing to do with choosing science over god, get your facts straight, especially from a dictionary

I happen to believe that God does not exclude science. I believe that God was the big bang and then evolution took over.

Very good question! My mother says that there is no way that the universe is here without a God. She says that the Bible makes sense to her, and that she feels it when God guides her though life. I tell her I do not get it at all, and that science makes a heck of a lot more sense...

Atheism-A person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being.
Science doesn't back atheists.
No...Atheist are people who accept facts that fit what they want to believe.
Even though their is so much proof for a God, They deny him because if there is a God he would have rule and they dont want to be subjected to rules. It simple they deny because they can. Some really dont know about God but many reject him even though they see proof.
