legally, there is nothing wrong with it. Morally, it is a felony. Not only is the teacher showing the student that she can get through life off looks, she is telling him it is alright to do such a thing to somebody else. The teacher is supposed to be preparing her for the real world, when all he's doing is showing her how to cheat the real world.

Although I cannot judge and say if it is wrong or not for them to be carrying on such a correspondence (because I don't personally know either of them), I am wary of the fact that the teacher could end up getting into trouble. Some schools have rules that prohibit an intimate relationship between a teacher and a student, and if it is discovered that the teacher and the student have been carrying on such e-mail correspondence, the teacher could be sanctioned for breaking those rules.
If they really like eachother, it would be "safer" for them to both wait until she graduates from high school to further their relationship. Good luck :).

This is very unethical. The student is in a position of trusting the teacher, albeit that the student is legally an adult. The teacher is using this situation to his/her advantage. This should be reported to the principal. Although THIS student is an adult, legally, how old will the NEXT student be that this lecherous teacher decides to flirt with? Also, maybe the student is a special needs student...then a whole new set of rules and circumstances come into play. Although this has been glorified in the past through our hedonistic media, it is WRONG and should be stopped!

Well, it's wrong because she's still in high school - I mean, could you not wait until she graduates in a few months? Legally she is an adult, so I don't think you could get in trouble there, but she could certainly cause some problems for you at school where if she brought the letters to your boss' attention it probably wouldn't look so great that you are hitting on a student.

It is TOTALLY wrong! Turn that teacher in immediately. Anyone who is in a position of authority over another person should NEVER do what this teacher is doing. It doesn't matter how old you are. Do the right thing and turn this so-called-teacher idiot in. Contact the school principal or one of the school board members (do it anonymously if you must... just do it!)

That's a 10 year age difference. I just think that older men hitting on young, young girls is disgusting...even more disgusting when the chick totally goes for it and hooks up with a creepy old dude...and for what? A little flattery? Come on...men that age who go for "riper" women only do it because they're losers who have nothing to offer women of their own age and maturity.

It is morally, ethically and emotionally WRONG WRONG WRONG! Even if that student were 27, in college and the professor was say 37! The teacher/ student relationship MUST remain platonic at all times... especially in the case of HIGH SCHOOL, for c rying out loud!!!!!!!

It is still VERY wrong as she is still a student. This relationship needs to be reported. What if the teacher can't help himself and goes after a girl much younger that doesn't know what she is getting herself into?? Protect the possible victims!!

It's more of a moral issue as oppose to a legal one. She is legally an adult, but it could be considered a conflict of interest because of your teacher status. Graduation isn't to far away, keep the lines of communication open, but don't get physical till she technically isn't a student at your work place.
