I've been taking Alprazolam 0.5 MG for anxiety for about a year now. Lately I've been having red bumps coming on my skin and twitches in my legs/arms started last night. I was just wondering if this could be related to my medicine? Can you have withdrawl symptoms while taking the medicine? Thank you.

You can not go into withdraw from a medication while you are taking it as long as the does does not go down. (Unless you have a batch of bad or mislabeled medicine - very rare unless you're buying it off the street)

You can develop a tolerance which may require an increase in the dosing of the medication. (Narcotics and benzodiazepines are well known for this).

The rash may or may not be related to this medication. You should contact your primary physician to get it sorted out. In rare cases, people can become allergic to a medication that they have been taking for sometime.

Alprazolam is associated with numerous side effects and withdrawal symptoms. Among them are restlessness, insomnia abnormal involuntary movements, depression, tremors and even seizures. What you are experiencing with your legs could be a side effect or it could be RLS (restless leg syndrome). Aside from allergies, alprazolam has not been associated with many skin symptoms. And yes, you could have withdrawal symptoms while taking the medicine if the dose decreased significantly or if tolerance occurs. Benzos are associated with tolerance.
