i have heard of numerous cases where dogs swallow socks and then get intestinal blockage and have to undergo emergency surgery. BIG BUCKS... fill a basket with tennis balls, toys, old socks WITH KNOTs tied in them , every thing that you allow your dog to chew.... put this basket where you dog has easy access to it in the house.. when he chews an UNknotted sock say ut uh and bring him over to his basket of toys... this takes about a day for your dog to get the hang of...... this has worked for all my dogs ( goldens, spaniels, and aussies) dogs think they are so special when they get to dig in their basket for toys....

Okay here's something you can try. Put a sock out and let him grab it then spray him with water, and if that doesn't work, hit him, not too hard that he's wimpering but hard enough for him to know you don't want him doing that, tell him "No" very sternly then take the sock away. Put the sock back down and repeat the process until he gets the picture that you don't want him doing that anymore.

It might just be a phase, or he might be bored, to get him more toys! If you can't break his habbit, make it a bit healthier. Take 3 very large, very sturdy socks and tie them together into a knot in the center to get a very large sock spider. Your dog will love this and it will be impossible for him to swallow a giant lump of socks!

Stop teasing him with them! lol

That, or hide the socks by keeping them out of his reach.

well you could pick up your socks off the floor, I learned how to be a better housekeeper and my dog doesn't eat socks any more.

Sorry to be a smarty, but maybe don't leave socks on the floor... I bet he won't eat them if they are in the hamper or in a drawer!!

Stop leaving them around!!!!!!!
I'm a lot tidier now we've got another puppy & the only way to stop him eating things he shouldn't is to either put things away or keep the doors shut.

Get him something tastier like a chew bone. Take him for walks more often to tire him out a little.
