That isn't any of your business. That's their child not yours! My oldest potty trained real early and was using the toilet bu the time he was 19 months. My second son didn't use the toilet until he was 3 and completely trained right after 4. My nephew wasn't potty trained to almost 5. ALL KIDS LEARN IN THERE OWN TIME!!! You don't need to get your friend to do anything~you might not know all the circumstances and THEIR child could have a medical problem the way my nephew did. You need to BUTT OUT and worry about yourself.

show the child the potty is okay. you can buy a smaller seat at walmart or somewhere for like $10-$15. its a seat that goes on the regular one, except its no higher, the seat is just smaller so the child feels more comfortable. i work in a child care center and i think the best thing to do is to put the child on the potty every 30-45 mins and make a chart, saying if the child doesnt go potty in their pants, or pull-up that whole day, then after they get 5 stickers they get a prize. let the child know the potty is for big kids, and diapers/pull-ups are for babies.

the age of 4? and they still haven't been trained!? Does the parent not even show an interest? By that age you'd think a kid would have trained themselves, that's scary - well, by the time (s)he goes to school, (s)he'll have to be trained, they don't allow that kind of crap at school. All I had to do with my 2 yr old was say no more diapers, and she's only had a couple of accidents since! (10 months ago!) I'd be honestly embarrassed and ashamed to have a 4 yr old in diapers! (Or is the child severely delayed? that might excuse it...)

Well, my son didn't do number 2 until he was almost 4...He was wearing pull ups and one day he decided to try out going to big toilet to do number 2...he always did number 1 in the toilet then pulled up his pullup afterwards...Tell your friend maybe, to tell the child that he/she is a big person now, and to start doing number 1 and 2 in the toilet, like a big person. or get a potty for that child. Every child is different. Don't absolutely force it, or else that child will become discouraged....

you take the child and show him where the toilet is. HE or she should kind of get the drift of what to do. does the child have some kind of disablity? or is there something wrong with the bwels or bladder? these are the only reason this child should not be potty trained. But really show the child the toilet and tell him/her what to do.

If they want to keep changing their kid's diapers, that's their problem. When he/she gets to school, they will want to get potty trained soon enough. Personally, I think that potty training should start between 2 & 3 y.o.

Have you suggested to them to purchase a book on how to potty train a toddler? They should have them at stores like Target and Walmart.

You can't. If you are not the mom or dad, stay out of it. It will only make him or her angry at you and really, it's not your business. If you have other concerns about this child's development, then you could refer them to an early childhood special ed program for a screening.

I'm sure it's annoying but I would advise minding your own business or she won't be your friend much longer.
