Okay, I'm a male that's seventeen who's issue is that my parents are always bugging me about me going out on dates. I've been on some dates before (five times or so), but nothing really that impressive and those were all quite a while ago. My parents keep asking me for reasons why I'm not going on dates or asking some girl out, because they think I'm a decent looking kid with an acceptable personality. The thing is that I'm really not interested in dating right now, and just want to focus on school, my job, and writing (my hobby). I've already tried to explain that to them but they don't think those are valid excuses/reasons.
How can I get them off my back!?

They are worried yoou might be gay because most teenagers are out socializing with the opposite sex...don't sweat it keep focusing on what's important to you.

there are just worried a boy your age is normally head strong about a girl.. but really sit them down and explain that to them. To me they should be happy to have you as a son... you would rather study and focus on an education then chase around the one thing that can get ya caught up real quick. Keep studying and focus on ya work your mom and dad will be alright just listen when they talk and go about your business good luck on school and continue to pursue an education

The only thing you can do is be honest with them and tell them that you are putting your school/career first. Most parents would be thrilled to hear their kid say that lol. Just tell them that when the time is right you will get out there, but for right now you would like their support regarding your education and future.

since writing is your hobby write them a letter something that explains why you don't want to date. you might tell them you haven't found a girl that interests you that they are too immature, have different priorities or whatever the reason might be. you might be able to express how you feel better without any questions then at the end of the letter tell them that you appreciate their concern. tell them you wrote them a letter that it is nothing bad just your way of communicating.
