I have a friend who's worried he's losing his hair as he's only in his 20's and thinning on top. I told him since he has a great personality, that looks aren't that important to women. Am I misleading him?

It depends on certain women. Some people don't regard appearance as a major component. Others judge right off the bat. As long as he can make a good impression, he should be fine.

Thinning hair definitely isn't a turn on, but I think most women can look past it. He could take some preventative measures (for example, taking certain vitamins and I think Rogain has some hair loss prevention shampoo or something) but really those things won't make a significant difference; you can't beat genetics. The only time hair thinning is a turn off is when the man tries to hide it with a comb-over (eek!) or a toupee. When he gets to the point where he is visibly thinning then he should see a really good barber/hair stylist (and be prepared to be overcharged) to find a flattering hair cut that won't make it obvious he's thinning. A good haircut is the key to looking good while thinning. Tell him not to worry too much though; women aren't just attracted to a full head of hair. In sources I included a pretty good article about "embracing baldness" from askmen.com. I know that you're friend isn't there yet, but having a plan of attack for when he is might make him feel a little better.

Well it doesn't bother me. I knew this guy that was middle 20's and he was thinning.

If he's that worried about it, he can get products to fix it.

You are definately not misleading him, you're telling him what a good friend would.

Looks aren't important to ALL women, but some - it is.

Well some guys have hair that thin and stay that way, in other words they dont go completely bald, if thats the case I dont think its so bad. If he is balding a lot he should just shave his head, I find guys look better with a shaved head than having big bald spots.

In any case Ive seen many bald guys with attractive women. He should look at it as a good thing because he can sniff out the shallow/superficial women better. Oh and many attractive women have enough confidence to overlook minor things like baldness and not care what others think of their men.

If he truly has a great personality and treats women well then it doesn't matter if his hair is thinning or he's completely bald. A man can be attracted despite hair loss so it's really not the end...tell him the best women are the ones that know whats important in a man and those are the ones he'll end up with ; )

Not at all. Look at Sean Connery and Patrick Stewart. Both with thinning hair and both sexy. It's about how you present yourself, not about your hair.

The only time it's a turnoff is when you do the comb over thing. That's not fooling anybody.

yes. it matters. but sometimes thinning hair isn't a big deal. but it all depends on how he styles his hair. when it becomes really obvious it can be a bit of a turn off, especially on a young guy. however, a lot of girls, including me find balding men sexy when they own up to it and cut their hair down low. when it's obvious the guy isn't hiding it and if the shape of his head is ok, it can be very sexy. it amazes me when i see a balding man and who's hair is cut really low and i find it so attractive. not sure why that is. besides, they say bald men have more testosterone, so maybe that's it.

bottom line, as long as your friend doesn't try to hide it by poofing his hair up, combovers, etc. he can still be attractive to lots of ladies. as long as it's cut down low. and if his job doesn't prohibit hats, i'd say just wear a cap most of the time if he's really embarassed.

thinning hair doesn't bug me at all, unless a guy acts all insecure about it. combovers and tupee's are a big turn-off. and if a lady is gonna turn him down over something like that, I say he's better off without her superficial azz.

yes and no. some women dont really care but honestly, and i am not lying, some women do look at not only the hair but everything else and if yo got one turn off then really to some women including me it is a BIG turnoff overall and completly. look up shampoo on google that is meant for men with thinning hair and you will find something.

No, it isn't a turn off unless the guy starts doing the "combover" if your friend is thinning it would probably look good if he shaved his head, not totally bald but pretty short, my husband does this and you can't even tell he is thinning on top.
