In order to make a payment through a web site you have to do one of two things. Either sign up for EFTPS which is the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System, or use an outside vendor credit card service, of which there are 3: incometaxpayment.com, which takes debit and check cards only and charges a flat fee of $2.95/transfer; pay1040.com, which charges 2.49% and takes mastercard, visa, discover or american express; and official payments.com which charges the same 2.49% and takes the same cards.

The IRS website is www.irs.gov.

However, this site doesn't take payments. One of the companies they use for this service is at pay1040.com
