This means you have less level of Vitamin D in your blood, This article will help you out:
Normal Values Of Vitamin D:
The normal range is 16.0 to 74.0 ng/mL. Normal value ranges may vary slightly among different laboratories.
Note: ng/mL = nanograms per milliliter
What abnormal results mean:
Low 25-hydroxy vitamin D levels indicate a deficiency in vitamin D. Vitamin D deficiency can result from lack of exposure to sunlight, lack of adequate vitamin D in the diet, liver and kidney diseases, malabsorption, and medications such as phenytoin, phenobarbital, and rifampin. Vitamin D deficiency may lead to low blood calcium levels (hypocalcemia), thin or weak bones (osteoporosis and osteomalacia), and high levels of parathyroid hormone (secondary hyperparathyroidism).
High 25-hydroxy vitamin D indicates excess vitamin D (hypervitaminosis D) and is usually caused by too much vitamin D in the form of doctor-prescribed dietary supplements. This can lead to high calcium levels (hypercalcemia).
What the risks are:
* Excessive bleeding
* Fainting or feeling lightheaded
* Hematoma (blood accumulating under the skin)
* Infection (a slight risk any time the skin is broken)
* Multiple punctures to locate veins
Special considerations :
Veins and arteries vary in size from one patient to another and from one side of the body to the other. Obtaining a blood sample from some people may be more difficult than from others.

It means that your vitamin D level is well below the level of Vitamin D deficiency, which is from 10-20, while 20-30 range is still Vitamin D insufficiency. The most natural source I have found (mine test results were >5 last April,) is Nature's Plus Vitamin D3 made completely from mushrooms with 2,500 I.U. per capsule. My doctor said to take one in the morning and one in the evening, but it must be taken with a source of fat. I use real butter on crackers every time I take a capsule or olive oil. Without any fat at the same time, the Vitamin D would not be absorbed, as it is a fat-soluble vitamin, like vitamin A is. I was terribly allergic to every other form of Vitamin D3, so am extremely grateful to have had this mushroom source introduced to me. Vitamin D exists a little in real butter and in eggs, but the main food source is mushrooms.

It means you're not getting enough sunlight. Get out in the sun more and expose your skin. Your body will produce vitamin D and your levels will return to normal. Try not to over-do it though. Wear sunscreen and avoid burning. The sunlight will also help decrease depression symptoms.
