I have very thick and kinky hair after I wash it and and it turns into an afro, I wanted know if anyone knew about any hair products that could make it look better...Like curling it or just taming and straightening it.

Your hair will always turn into an afro after you wash it because its natural. Try not too over wash your hair. Once every 2 weeks is ok. You have to moisturizes it. Try using a deep conditioner. like Quenn Helene Cholesterol Conditioning ( check your local beauty supply store/market)or any moisturizing conditioner. Also use hair pomade/oil to make your hair soft and shinny.
To straighten your hair you don't need a relaxer. Make sure your hair is clean. Ask a stylist for a press-n-curl. You can also buy some straighting pomade/ or use some of your daily hair pomade. Blow dry your hair then use a curling iron/ beveling iron for your style.

you could use a relaxer or just put some curling mousse in after yr shower. my favorite mousses are got2be kinky and any kind of suave.

Try braiding gel. It can be a bit heavy, but it works great. I braid my hair and don't use chemicals and it curls up my hair.

not really, but you can try applying a texturizer to your hair and then use Paul Mitchell's foaming pomade to add some more wavy to it............
