I love abstract pieces as well as African American artwork and scenic. If I mix them all in one room or throughout my home will it look tacky? Should I pick on and go with it?

For example, I have 3 Wassily Kandinsky pieces and I would love to purchase some pieces from the Charles Bibbs collection. I have lots of bare walls and would love to showcase them both.

I am very contemporary in style and I don’t want the eccentric look. I want it to look clean and uniform. Any advice on this would be great!

It is all about the presentation. If you segregate the pieces, it will not work. Everyone's home is eclectic in some sense. Just like no person fits into one category, there belongings reflect that . The key is to pair objects from the different artistic styles so they compliment each other and in someway create a dialog between the pieces.

Why not group the Kandinsky's in one room where they all work well? We have one over our piano as his work is inspired by music . . .
Bibbs' work is great too. How about a room with an African theme where they could be showcased?

I think the key to displaying art of varying styles within a space is to tie the display or in this case framing of the art to the design of the room. Matting and style of frame should complement the design of the space and the matting or lack there of should compliment the art and the pallette of the space.

Art should never match anything. Art is an expression of you, not your furniture or your wall colors. If it looks good to you, do it.

It really doesn't have to. You can have a different theme in all rooms. It's really your preference.......
