Overall, I'd say yes it is a very good place to live.
The pluses are - beautiful weather, relatively plentiful jobs, ethnic diversity, lots of things to do - entertainment and shopping, good universities.
The minuses - high cost of housing, traffic if you have a long commute.
One way to look at the answer to this question is in the cost of housing. If LA was a bad place to live, no one would live here and housing costs would be very low. Instead LA is one of the most desired places to live and as a result has one of the highest housing costs in the nation, even with its very large size.

I think it's fun when you are young & single, but it's a really hard place to raise a family. Even the best school districts in the L.A. suburbs can't compare with the education you can get in most other states. So, live there and have fun until you're older and then move!

You have to research the neighborhoods, but I think it's a great place to live. I, actually, live down south in Orange County but I'd live in LA if the opportunity presented itself. There is a lot more to do there than there is here in Orange County!!

I LOVE IT!!! The weather is great were 15 minutes away from the beach. 40 from Big Bear, 20 from Hollywood. All these varie by traffic. But there's so much to do here its a melting pot of all types of ethniticities. It has a lot of culture. We have it all

It depends. If you either have a lot of money or are young and want nightlife or want to work in entertainment then go for it. Otherwise I would pick another place!!!

Every city has pros and cons, so the answer depends on the person. I can definitely say that the weather is great, though.

Most likely not. In movies, it would look like the place to be, but it's really overrated.
