I am 13 years old, and I am going to cook dinner for 4 people. My sister is very particular, and likes chicken, broccoli (without cheese), baked potatoes, steak...etc. My family is a bit tight on money, so I can't go on a shopping spree and buy filet mignon and shrimp cocktails. Does anyone know a simple, cheap, dinner that I could make? Websites are appreciated also. Thank you so much for any suggestions.

http://allrecipes.com/ is a great site.........you can actually do a search using the ingredients that you have and it will give you a recipe containing them. it also has user comments, so you can see what people generally thought about the dishes. hope this helps and good luck! :)

Stir fry is a good, healthy, and inexpensive way to feed a lot of people for very little money. Plus, it's delicious!

Buy a bag of frozen stir fry veggies (or frozen brocolli florets if your sister won't touch the mixed veggies), a pound or so of chicken breasts, and a bottle of teriyaki sauce.

Cut the chicken into thin strips and place in a plastic bag. Pour in enough sauce to cover, and let sit for at least an hour. Turn the pieces occasionally to make sure that all of them are covered.

Heat a couple of tablespoons of cooking oil in a large skillet and add the drained chicken. Cook until no longer pink in the center and remove to a plate. Prepare the veggies according to the package directions, then add the chicken and reheat. Pour in enough additional sauce to moisten well, and heat again.

Serve over white rice or chow mein noodles. (If you go with rice, fix the instant Minute Rice kind. It's a LOT easier than regular white rice.) Serve this with a fruit or jello salad from the deli and egg rolls from the freezer case that you've brushed lightly with oil and baked in advance. (Keep them warm in the oven at 200 degrees while you're fixing the stir fry.)

i would do a pasta bake .

Buy one regular size bag of your favorite pasta . Not spaghetti noodles though . Get ground beef ,sausage or turkey . Get 2-3 different kinds of shredded cheese just makes sure one of them are mozzarella . and one bottle of prego traditional spaghetti sauce .

Instructions :

cook pasta and drain .
preheat oven to 400 degrees
brown ground meat
Take a glass baking dish the one you mom cooks casseroles in put the pasta meat and sauce in it mix well add all the cheese but enough to garnish plates before serving . Stir and mix the cheese in well . cover with tinfoil and pop in the oven for 30 minutes . Then serve . I would serve it with salad and french bread . You can find already made french bread in the bakers area in the store they usually will make this fresh everyday .

Rachel Ray's web site is awsome for ideas. I also recommend subscribing to her mag. for anyone learning how to cook. I have learned so many things from it since I started receiving it. It's only $18.00 per year. And there are tons of low budget recipes in it.

Make a meatloaf and have baked potatoes and 2 different types of a vegetable. Or make spaghetti and meatballs with a salad and garlic bread. Or make club sandwiches with FF.
