God doesn't exist and prayer is a waste of time. Prayer is begging to a fictional character.
One man with a hammer can do more good than a billion people praying.

This was a very tought hurdle for me to get over in my quest for spirituality. I never really did figure out how you're supposed to tell if God has answered you, and how you'd know it was God answering.
Here's what I beleive, though. God has a pretty good idea of what's going on in your life, and of what you need, and of what you need to know. In fact, God knows what you need much better than what you need. So if you pray for something that you don't need, then God will most likely not give it to you. And if you don't pray for something, but God decides you need it, he probably will give it to you. So I'd say not to worry about it, and accept that where you are in life is where God wants you to be. Some things we are simply not meant to know.
Summary: God knows what He's doing better than you know what He's doing.
I apologize if this is way off track from your question. I am truly trying to help a sister out.

There is a lovely german proverb that says:
Begin to weave and God will give you the thread. Meaning do what you have to do and Providence will provide the rest.
You could pray but act as well. Do all the necessary things to get over a tough situation and ignore the hurt. It is the only way.

First off you need to continue to have patients. As you already stated He will answer your needs, but in the time that is right. We don't know when that is but we have to continue to have faith and patients in God. Sometimes that answer will be no and we have to accept that. How will we know when we answers us, I can't and I don't believe any can tell us when. Just wait and He will answer us in the perfect time His timing.
I noticed that someone said that you should ignore the hurt. I personally can't ignore the hurt but I have a lot of family and friends that will help me through it. It says in the bible "for those who morn they shall be comforted) anything words if you hurt God will give you someone to help you through it. I think everyone has gone through some kind of bad, tough or hard time in their life but they worked through it and I also believe that they had help from someone and more likely more then one. So continue to pray for strength and I will pray that God gives you Guidance and Strength in your hard time.
All of God's Blessings to you
Your Brother in Jesus Christ

There in lies a major problem with the religion and belief structure. This God either doesn't exist and people just make up BS after the fact (Years After) that they can delude themselves into thinking this God finally answered them. Or a person hears voices and thins God is talking to them directly and we all know this person is crazy!
The truth is based on reality not man made fantasy. The truth is there is no God. You are on your own with this situation just as you are with every situation in life!
Save your time & your breath. Prayer does no good! Because you're praying to a delusion!

god is that still small voice, to hear god one must be quiet, and be open to listening. god does answer prayer but not always in the way we want him to. sometimes it does take time to get the prayers answered, just be patient, and listen for that voice from within.

depends, i guess you could see it as a sign, anything that has to relate to your prayer could be a sign from god, or you just wait it out until you get what you were expecting
