You can ask for anything you want. But, since polygraphs are not accepted evidence in court anywhere, their results generally do not mean anything.

Your attorney can give you a polygraph and ask that the results be admitted, but chances are the prosecution will fight it. Some attorneys WILL give their client a polygraph and then provide the results to the DA in an attempt to get charges dropped. However, since this would be an attorney work product, the defense attorney does not HAVE to provide the results if you failed or came out deceptive. The attorney can also have the questions and preliminary inquiry phrased such as to conform your answers to truthful ones that do not damn you.

In short, you can ask that you or any party be given a polygraph, but no one is required to accept the results, and the results cannot generally be admitted as proof of anything.

Lie detectors can be beaten, and normally aren't accepted as evidence in the court of law.

proving that your innocent by a lie detector test just means that you can beat a polygraph. it is not admissible in court for a reason.
