I think that if you go out with someone (guy) he should take you out for dinner and a movie.

A restaurant is a good date because it allows for more conversation without the guy chomping his popcorn in your ear.
If it is a first date, I would probably not do either one, I would start with coffee. That way if it does not "click" you don't have to sit through dinner. Try coffee or tea.
Some romantic ideas (if you are in eachother's living space) include cooking a meal together. If the two of you are not that close, and weather permits, you should go to a plaza area and walk around. It is a nice cheap date that will allow for getting to know eachother. Alternately, you could plan a picnic together. The sky really is the limit. I think just about any situation can be made romantice if there right mood is set beforehand.

If I had to choose I would say restaurant. Because you get a chance to talk and get to know the person better. Movies you have to be quite on the majority of the date. Most of the time I would do both.

A quiet restaurant because I like comfortable conversation. At a cinema you just sit there and watch a screen a listen to a story; it's impossible to get to know anyone that way.

A restaurant is definitely more romantic. It gives you time to talk intimately, face to face. You get to observe each other's mannerisms and enjoy his smile. Movies are impersonal and dark, if you are trying to get to know someone, always take them to a simple, quiet, initimate place like restaurant or park

I think they are both so original and boring. I would rather go to an amusement park, or go to a water park, or do something outdoors like hiking, or rock climbing. Or have him over to your house and cook him dinner and rent a movie, that is better than going to dinner and a movie.

depends. if you dont know the guy...movies cause you dont have to worry about what to say. if you want to talk and get to know soemone better...restaurant.
