They have a projection an are not true domes
They are all hard on the carpet so if you have good carpet get some of that plastic carpet protector.
You know the stuff that has little spike which hold it in place on the carpet. About 30" wide

They're available at Home Depot. They are next to the felt pad things that go under table legs and chairs in the Hardware department. Lots of different sizes too.

What you are looking for is called a "glide". The very best are made by a company called Shepard, and are metal and coated in Teflon.
Do not buy the nylon or plastic. They catch on the carpet.

If you have an ACE hardware store they carry these things, Lowes or Southerlands also carry them, I forgot the name of them also but I have them on my chairs as well
