I notice that even when the questions are not confrntational, there are those out there that launch into a holy war at the drop of a hat. If Christianity is based on love - where is all the hatred coming from?

i make no assumptions here - just observations.

where was it that i wrote "all Christians"? I don't see that. BTW - you should refrain from giving dumb answers before YOU have all the facts.

well, that answers my question, iguess. some of the answers pretty much settled it - not looking before you leap. and perhaps a predisposition for angry defensive retorts!!

IMHO, those who attack people of other faiths are very insecure in their own faith. They look for reasons why other faiths are wrong, so as to justify what they have chosen to have faith in. And they attack those of other faiths because they can't accept that someone can be happy in a faith they find wrong.

Well in my view, if you tell exactly what Christians believes and stand up for your faith you are called every kind of a reprobate. I think maybe it has to do with how many of each number is on the site. If the Christians are low in numbers the others smell blood and attack in full force and when there are alot of Christians then it mellows out a little. There are some groups though that seem to get it from all sides. But, I would say it is the pack mentality that does it.

Q. 1 - Ignorance for one thing, its the tendencies of the natural unregenerated man to attack what he does not understand.

Q. 2 --There are so-called Christians that do not show love and self-control because they don't have the Spirit of God in them. Maybe some are not really saved or maybe they are immature Christians.

We are not all at the same level. Some are newborn and some are mature.

Not really sure. I was searching for info on a friend's Marine son who was killed in Afghanistan recently and found a web page dedicated to absolutely vicious allegedly church-based hatred and trying to rally like-minded hate-mongers to disrupt his funeral service and upset his family (and I refrain here from giving them any free publicity by including the URL). Where in the world does this stuff come from? Demented families? Experiences long ago buried? It's frightening and sickening. This type of stuff is the one thing that makes me believe in the reality of Satan. Who else would deliberately try to represent Christ's church in this way?

I think a lot of it is about the fact that on YA there are very little consequences to this type of behavior. Not to mention that you are not being confrontational face to face with the individual.....it definately makes it easier to be insensitive and cruel.

Uneducated is definately a big factor also, but its not an excuse.

My friend, you are mistaken, not all Christians are viscous, and if they are, it shouldn't be because of the drop of a hat. Christianity is a way of life and when others judge it you get angry. Let's say someone calls your mother tons of awful things, wouldn't you want to slap them?? Please, don't ask dumb questions unless you know the facts.

People know they can get away with it because its the net and theres no percieved consequences. It all stems from their hatred of anything having to do with God and their pride.

Are you assuming that ALL Christians hate?

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another (John 13:34).
