Yes, most types of heat break the hair. This is not the 60s, so under no case should you use a clothing iron. The best bet for you is a ceramic iron, which does not do as much damage because it does not destroy all your hair bonds. Also, if straightening, use a good conditioner and a moisturizer or cream that protects against breakage. Good luck!

It depends on the texture of the hair. If the proper conditioning is performed prior to ironing the hair then you should have nothing to worry about. Any excess heat to the hair can be damaging.

How can you put an iron on hair and not damage it??? Use a thermal product to protect your hair as much as possible but it DOES dry your hair out and damage it... I know this from experience. If you want straight hair, protect it, condition it and rest it as much as you can....

It can be if you don't take the proper precautions. If you don't blow dry your hair, use a heat protection spray in your hair, and use the low setting on the straightener you can prevent excessive damage. Heat can damage hair and cause split ends, but if you take care of it you can prevent a lot of damage and make your hair healthier.

It does if you have nothing protecting your hair, You r stylist may be way crazy, If you have nothing protecting it (like a serum or leave in conditioner) it is basically stripping all oils from your hair and burning the strands, and will lead to major breakage in your hair, nice "mullet" look...

yes, it is. Ceramic straightners are the best to use if you are to straighten your hair. Also, if you use a serum to protect your hair it will be okay. Using the right kind of shampoo will also help the damaged hair.

it does damage your hair a little but not much. If you straaghtena dn blow dry you will have really dry hair with split ends sooner and that is about it. Your hair dresser is right it is not magorly bad but can damage a little.
