I made my own invites for cheap and I many people thought they were professionally done. What I did.. went to staples and picked out a set of invites I liked. The invites come with a website that has their templates. Make sure you work on the spacing and lettering to make it look kmore professional.

Note: I just got an invite from a friend of mine who used the same invite as I did but hers looked homemade and cheap because they didnt work on the spacing and choose the wrong font. I like Edwardian Script ITC. Also, you can get a single hole puncher and punch two holes on the top of your invite and tie and ribbon that matches your wedding colors.

Good Luck!

Go to Office Max or Staples and ask where the blank wedding invitations are for computer use. I have seen them and they are quite lovely. Once you have purchased them, you can use your computer on Word Perfect or Create a Card to make up a wedding invitation. You must change margins, center, find a font (type) color, make it bold, etc. and wording. Now wording you can find at a Party Place store. They have invitation books where you can copy a few down, or ask someone who had just gotten married. And that is about it. What I would do is practice before you start using invitations so you get it right. By the way, use your spell check...Invitation is spelled wrong and so is cheap. Best of Luck

I'm in the same boat- Making my own cuz of budget.
I went into paper stores and hallmark etc. to look at the ivitations you can order and got some ideas of what i wanted. I took some pictures for inspiration and went home to make them.
If you have a fancy design program that will be helpful (see if a friend has a program and can use it) otherwise try playing around with microsoft word.
Find some images you like online (make sure they're not copywrighted if they are get permission to use them)
You can get a free trial of photoshop here http://www.soft32.com/download_346.html
Look up the tutorial to learn how to use it.
To print them out go to a local print shop (do you have a Kinkos near by?) and tell them what you are using them for they'll be able to help you pick the right paper and print them out.
Hope this helps- have fun with it!
God Bless

I am not sure how many people you plan on inviting, but if you just run over to your office supply store you can pick up some card stock, and possible some nice decorations (howeer you can get those at the craft store. Print it off from your computer.

I would also say try http://sealandsend.net for my 100 invites i am spending less than 100 bucks and it come with the response card, map and info on it. you can even get samples. Every so often ebay has nice ones for really cheap too. i got my invite seals on there for $3

My husband and I made our invitations and they looked great. Get blank invitation stock and matching envelopes at a place like Stapes or Office Depot. Print them on your computer. We then got a handmade paper from a wholesale paper supply company (it was very pretty - made of flowers and leaves) to fold around the invitation and we took green ribbon and tied it at the fold. If you can picture the invitation like a card with two layers. The outside layer is the handmade paper, the inside layer the invite. When you open it - the printed part is on the inside right. with the ribbon down the center. It was very inexpensive, but didn't look cheap.

you can make a simple layout on Microsoft Word (even the most fancy is still simple) and then print it out on good quality paper you can buy online at www.paper-source.com which has paper in all shades and colors already cut out and matching envelopes. If you want to personalize it further, you can be creative and little touches like rhinestones, ribbons, or a monogram. be creative and keep it simple!

I made all of my invitations and they don't look cheap. Go to the paper zone and visit their "invitation station". Remember that whe you go to get them printed that it is much cheaper to use black ink instead of a color. No matter what as long as you love them that is all that matters!

You can get invitations for about $50 on eBay. That's where I got mine.
