Why not? He gave them a life time to choose which path they wanted to go.. they utilized their free will card and chose the dark path leading to suffering and gnawing all the days of eternity. It's not God's fault they cashed in their free will for the wrong door.

I believe only Satan and the people just as evil as he will suffer for the rest of eternity. I believe the rest will just burn and be consumed and destroyed. I am a believer though and Im in the minority as far as that belief goes. A few great lessons though can be learned from eternal punishment.
A. God HATES sin the most of anything.
B. God cannot let sin go unpunished because then he wouldnt be just. He would be a hypocrite for not backing his own principles.
C. Sin by nature IS eternal therefore REQUIRES eternal punishment.

I don't think that God can control a person's suffering. People have their free agency, and no one can be happy if they don't want to be happy. And this includes God, and it includes after we die, as well as before.
I don't believe God wants anyone to suffer. And I don't believe that God would ever put anyone into a position where they would suffer, especially if they don't deserve such suffering.
I believe God rewards all of us for the good we have done in life. Any suffering we feel, we bring on ourselves. God wants us to be happy. He would never cause anyone's suffering.

I believe it is an offense to God to think that He would allow eternal suffering.

What's the alternative? Tell people who have chosen to reject and hate God, "I don't respect your choice. You are going to spend eternity with Me whether you like it or not."??

God doesn't send anyone to Hell. It's obvious that an all-loving God would not do that. However, since we have free will, we can decide to refuse God. When we die in that state of rejection, we separate ourselves from God, and send ourselves to Hell.

Because God's a gentleman and honor's the choice people make.
He already did everything required, including taking the punishment for them, so they don't have to.

Good question! Why would any god smite entire cities and flood out a world with innocent children in it?

God does not make you suffer.... you choose the way you want to live... it is your fault and your fault only if things go wrong in you like... you cannot blame God... if you want to stop suffering you can change things yourself
