The hypothetical situation is this: God is still good and righteous, and the Devil is evil, but worshipping God leads to eternity in the fiery pits of hell, while a life of evil leads to eternal bliss of heaven. Or another way to put it: What if Satan decided the fate of your soul? Or another way to phrase the question: Do you worship God because he is righteous and holy, or because it leads to heaven? Your thoughts?

Would you sacrifice your life on earth doing good, and be banished to hell afterwards? Or would you sacrifice your life on earth doing bad, and be rewarded with afterlife in heaven?

Or, another way to put it, if God was evil, but worshipping him led to eternal afterlife in heaven, would you still worship God?

These are all basically the same question.

One more thing: If you don't believe in God, and your answer will consist of "There is no God" or "This is why I don't believe in God" or etc., DONT' ANSWER! Obviously, this question isn't for you.

I'm not asking for guidance here, although I appreciate the thought, folks. This is more of a philisophical question. I want to know what your thoughts are on the subject.

And to those who say this question makes no sense, look up the word "hypothetical". Sheesh. Please edit and rethink your answers.

So far Lindsey, scapegoat, and especially Java have given good answers... because they actually answered my question! Thank you. I'm really looking for some more in depth answers, so put your heart into this!

if loving Him is wrong, I dont want to be right

I love God because he loves me regardless of what I have done and even though I might have turned away from him, he is always there with open arms when i come back. no human on this earth could forgive or love me without their selfish desires running in the way. I love God the way a mother loves her child, unconditional and cannot be broken

no matter where God goes heaven (hell, as you say) i am right behind him

The teachings are completely reversed, because Heaven is really a bad place that you don't want to be. Hell is where Satan live and Lucifer our creators. Hell is a great place even Jesus ended up there after being sent to Heaven and ending up in Hell even he didn't want to be in Heaven. Jesus is sinless and ended up in Hell that does not mean you have to be sinless you can also be balanced like the yin yang symbol represents. The fallen angels left Hell and Jesus was sacrificed to provide a way to bring them back. That is what the second coming is about except it is going to be St. James that they send as a Judge, Reaper, and Collector of souls to bring them back to Hell in his ark that is why he is called a arkangel.

Okay.... I do believe in God.... but you really just have to worry about your life here and now, on earth, and being the best person you can... do not be caught up in the after life because no matter what anyone or anything says you do not really know if heavan and hell really exist until you die... just focus on being the best person you can now...

Looking back on my life
Life that's gladly been given to me
Open my eyes and embrace the smile
Given to you & I
Looking back on my life
No regret only the sweet journey
Lessons from the simple steps
Taking by you & I

If I worship U in fear of hell, burn me in it
And if I worship U in hope of paradise, exclude me from it
But if I worship U for Your own being
Don't withhold from me Your everlasting beauty

I see what you are saying, would you do what is right regardless or sell out for the holiday in heaven.

I don't think about any of these places and entities mentioned as real ... being an atheist I always aim to do what my conscience tells me is right.

this makes no sense because then the devil would be good and god would be bad. it would still worked out the same way. and i know that god would not send the people that he love to hell and and send the devil to heaven.

This question makes no sense. Good things don't lead to evil and evil things don't lead to good.
