I've been best friends with a certain guy for about 3 years now. He's everything i look for in a guy, BUT he doesn't date. He's a really great guy, and a Christian. I think the reason he doesn't date is because he thinks a girlfriend would take his mind off God. He sends me mixed signals as to whether or not he's interested. Any comments?

Are you Christian? You should tell him that you both share a love for God. He just might be stubborn. You can ask him on a date and if he refuses, then he might not be ready for it yet.
You can't exactly change a guy, but you can give him suggestions. By dating, he will learn that God is still with him. God wants him to have a lovelife. By trying something new, he is giving himself a chance.

If you cant be honest and open now then how are you later? You think he might not date because of more then the religion maybe he is waiting for you? You never know till you try but you also need to be ok if he says he isnt ready for a relationship. Be honest but be open to yes or no. He will still be able to be your friend if you can stay his friend if he says no.

He likes you alot and sends you mixed signals because he doesn't want to lose you so there for it's better for you to hang on in hopes of, what if he changes his mind......Well heres the answer if he really wanted you he would have already had you, Better off to move on....Because the chase isn't allways worth the effort........

He's your best friend, has been for three years now. I would suggest talking to him about how you feel.
Explain that you respect his beliefs and that you really like him and want to know if theres a chance your friendship could go further. He probably is interested but because of his faith and his upbringing he's probably confused about his feelings for you and his devotion to god. You just need to talk to him about things and see where you go from there.

best friends are harder to find than a boy/girl friend, so i would just be cool and keep things as are. and most certainly a girlfriend would take his mind off God. He is probably struggling with the dating issue--respect his struggle and remain friendly unless/until he pursues more.

he can't be like that for life! unless he plans to be a priest, but hey, you said he's a christian! tease him that someday he's going to meet someone he'd fall in love with and when that time comes, he should treat you! (it's like a bet). Tell him marriage was first officiated by God anyway, so he should better be looking for someone who'd understand his religion. Then make up a story about someone you like. Check for signs of jealousy. Then joke that you want someone like him and not that "guy." lol

what on earth...he might think that having a girlfriend will take his mind off God what a weirdo if he really loves and believes in God he wouldnt have to worry about taking his mind off God...Gods not going anywhere and neither is he God will always have an eye out for him hes just being weird and paranoid

I guess I would start out by asking him questions about why he chooses not to date. I think that would either help you know that he isn't going to ever be interested or it might open him up enough to where he could tell you were interested and might ask you out. Or you could ask him out, but it might not go well so be prepared in case it doesn't.

maybe you are taking this as mixed messages. He is probably just a nice guy and likes you. Nothing wrong with a guy liking you and not wanting anything else. Respect him and just remain friends

He thinks dating will take his mind of God? Is he worried he'll go to hell for not constantly thinking about him? XD thats kind of sad, considering that there is no God. How old is this guy anyway? sounds like he's like 50 and like some kind of priest. lol. god....
