I am a retired medical doctor and would like to publish small articles and health tips in a small local newspaper.

You probably should have tail coverage depending on how long ago you retired to cover any events that are discovered later. But to write articles I think you do not need to other than make sure there is a disclaimer about being sure to consult a doctor.

Couldn't hurt.
I'm a RN with an active license, but no longer practising. I keep malpractice because I want to feel safe in my volunteer work.
