DO NOT attempt lancing it at home. For that, you will have to wait for the doctor. The risk of infection is far too great, and MRSA (an antibiotic resistant strain of staph) is a nasty infection that you could end up with either way, but more likely if you attempt to lance it yourself. You'll end up in the hospital.

While waiting for your appointment, you should apply warm compresses several times a day. Do not touch with your bare hands and wash your hands often.

If the wait for the doc is long you might want to try an urgent care clinic.

Lancing it means they slice it open to drain. Using a scalpel.

Scrub your skin thoroughly with a loofah or a scrubbing mitt.
Use Hot wet towel on it to help draw it to a head and open.
Put Neosporin over it at night to help heal it .

I sympathize. Once I had a boil with many many heads in a precarious place. OUCH OUCH OUCH . I ended up in the emergency room and the hospital for two days.
