To be safe, I wouldn't keep any type of meat for longer than 3 months -- less if it isn't very well sealed.

Food poisoning is so not worth it, lol

2 months in store package
6 months in a freezer bag and
up to 1 year if you vacume seal it .

We wrap in aluminum foil and then in freezer bags. Hae kept it 3 months. Best deal is at COSTCO - $2.29 7% fat.
