Could there ever be computers / robots capable of genuine creation and self-reflection - therefore, similar to human beings from all aspects (except from the physical one, of course)?

(yeeees, this question is in the "R&S" section...)

No satisfying answer, unfortunately - the thing is, if we do manage to create those robots, then yes it might say a lot about the relationship consciousness - soul (like, you don't need a soul to be conscious). On the other hand however, those robots would have been *created* (by us, with a *purpose*, intelligently planned work), not *evolved*. I think I'll rephrase and ask it again.

If, within my lifetime, the human race doesn't develop androids that are more intelligent than the average human, I will be extremely surprised and disappointed.

If Microsoft could invent a computer that has Artificial intelligence, I'd be a happy chappy, because I'd never have to leave the computer to make another cup of coffee - the computer would do it for me.

Of course. It already does. We are robots made out of meat instead of metal. It's only a matter of time before we create the metal bots.

It is almost a certainty. The ramifications of such technological development would be quite interesting.

And if they interact with us in every way as we would interact with a human, what does that say of "souls"?

Like meatbot said, it is just a matter of time.
