My 9 month old daughter does the same thing. She will only eat a few teaspoons of oatmeal & makes herself gag with all other food. My pediatrition said that she was at a healthy weight and not to worry about it. We would check again when she's 1 year old.

I am having the same issue with my son and he is almost 3. He used to east stage 3 foods then he started choking at about 9 months and he wouldn't even eat anything with chunks in it after that. I took him to the doctor and he said the same thing. That he is a healthy boy and that he will grow out of it. I still am worried to this day. We took him to a Occupational therapist and they will work with him to get him to start eating solid foods. Most insurances don't cover that and it may become pricey. You should check it out though if you are worried. Some children also have a sensitive gag reflex which causes gagging on chunky food.
My son is healthy right now even though he only basically eats liquid fruits and vegetables.

For some reason, my second went through this stage as well and "regressed" a bit. I regressed with her and went back to stage 1 foods and thick pureed fruit smoothies, things like that and within 2-3 weeks she was back to eating solids. I have no idea what made her decide to do it- but I just went with it.
If she has consulted a health professional and they say it's ok- I wouldnt worry. Probably just a stage!

As long as she is developing normally and eating soft foods and nursing she should be fine. Both my girls went through a phase where they wouldn't"t eat "chunk-food"- everything had to be completely smooth. I guess they just didn't like the texture. They are both healthy. Interestingly enough, we didn't force them to eat when they weren't hungry and we never made them clean their plates and they have always eaten only when they were hungry, choose nutritious foods. They do not eat a lot of junk food and I have never seen them eat too much. Follow the baby's cues on eating. Let her decide how much and what she is hungry for. This way she learns to eat from hunger and not for other reasons.

Try putting her solids in a blender and make it a little bit more mushy that way you wont have to spend the money on baby food. It helps if shes choking on it.

the same happens with my daughter at 5 months,i let her be and continue breastfeeding and bottlefeeding, after a few weeks i tried a gain and she started eating again,if you see the rate at which she eats now,i was almost complaining.
i think babys have a way to adjust to thins sometimes,ur baby will definitely start eating again, wait for a while ,then try to introduce her to it again,if it does not work, leave it and try again later until she is ready to eat again, good luck.

It is very common for babies to go on food strikes. Their "likes" are changing all of the time. As long as she is getting the right amount of breastmilk or formula and is gaining weight, there is no reason to be concerned.

Kids go through all types of changes with home much they will eat, what they will eat, and when they will eat it. I think you are just worried about something that means nothing at all.

babies are smarter than older people-they eat what they need to. let her do what she wants b/c parents aren't always right...you force her and you coulld end up with some major problems.
