Most people who have a MRSA infection remain colonized with it even after the episode of infection resolves.
Colonization means that the bacteria is present, usually on the skin or in the nares but it is not causing symptoms.
Infection is when the bacterial growth increases to the point of causing symptoms such as an abcess, etc.
MRSA stands for Methicillin Resistant Staph Aureus. It is an antibiotic resistant strain of bacteria that is part of our normal skin flora. It may also be resistant to other antibiotics as well.
We have developed resistant infection due to many years of overuse and improper use of antibiotics.

Yes, it usually does.

It is possible to rid yourself of the bacteria by taking antibiotics and washing yourself with a strong antimicrobial (I cannot remember which antimicrobial).
