He went to that school for 3 months and then I pulled him out because it was a terrible school. It has changed owners about 3 times in the last year as far as I know. For two months I have been asking far a receipt. I keep getting the run around. First it was the printer was down. Then I called and talked to another girl and she said the printer was never down. I went down there and there is a new director. She told me she would mail it to me. A week later I called and she said that she mailed it to me, but I have recieved nothing. I'm really mad. What can I do? do I call the state or IRS. When I call now I just get the answering machine.

Go there again or call them and ask for their ein (that's the provider ID). A printer being down wouldn't work as an excuse for not being able to give you the number. Then you can go ahead and file. If you have cancelled checks, then if you got audited you'd be OK. And in any case, you could tell the auditor about the situation. But yes, you need the number - but they should be able to give you that, with no lame excuses.

You say you just get the answering machine - did they close down? You might want to call the IRS and ask them how to proceed. It's possible to file without the number if you've used due diligence to try to get it - and it sure sounds like you have!

As far as tax purposes are concerend, they are not required to give you a receipt. Your canceled checks will suffice as proof of the amounts paid. If you paid cash (bad idea for obvious reasons) then your records kept at the time of payment will suffice for proof of payment.

Keep in mind that pre-school isn't qualifying for the Dependent Care Credit unless there is a separately stated child care component for care provided so that you can work or look for work.

Just stay on top of them if you want a receipt.

Call them or go there in person and request their federal tax ID#. They should provide you with this info right away. You dont need receipts for this info.

.The state will give you the run around because it is to trivial for them Put a little more pressure and they will get you one!! They are just lazy and will put you off until you tighten the screws
