You need to change a wire at the back of the head unit. There's a blue wire and a blue/white wire coming out of the back of the radio. Disconnect whatever you have attached to the blue wire and connect it to the blue/white wire instead.

What's happening is that you are either using an amplifier to run your speakers, or your vehicle is equipped with a factory amplifier. Right now the antenna output (blue) is hooked up to the amplifier's turn-on input, and it works only with the tuner. The blue/white wire will activate the amplifier whenever the head unit's power is on.

Sony has one model out this year that has only the blue wire, not the blue/white. If you have that model, I would suggest returning it and upgrading to a different unit.

many of the more recent head instruments have a plausible antenna lead and an adjunct lead. the potential antenna lead is for powering the antenna in undemanding words and could in undemanding words be energized at the same time as in "radio" mode. The accent lead or oftentimes observed as distant turn on lead are for powering amp turn on alerts. those are powered up in any respect circumstances at the same time as the stereo in on. i know for a undeniable actuality that Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC and Sony have those seperate leads in the harnesses. possibly your buddy must have helped out a touch more beneficial considering that he replaced into helping you out.
