I was struck recently with the passage in Matthew 25 where Jesus, after returning to earth to set up His Kingdom, gathers the nations of the earth to Him and separates them as sheep from the goats. What struck me was, the criterion for judgment in deciding if they would be saved or damned, was not what they did - that is to say, not the sins they committed; but what they failed to do !
"I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat"
"I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink"
"I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in"
"I was naked and you did not clothe Me"
"I was sick, or in prison, and you did not visit Me"
Now I believe in the Gospel, that "we are saved by grace through faith, and not of works so no one can boast"; but the very next verse says "for we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God has ordained beforehand, that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:8-10)
I think if the first part is true, the second part needs to be true also.
I suggest you read the Letter to Titus - 3 short chapters, but lots on what God expects from us as Christians.
Peace to you.

If you do nothing because you're horribly depressed, is it the sin of others who are supposed to care to not help get you to the doctor?
Or, is it just not a sin b/c god let you be born with bad brain chemistry?

"Sin" is an offense against "god." Since there is no god, you can't possibly offend something that doesn't exist...so there is no "sin" either.
It's your one life, and the only one you've got...if you want to spend it sitting on your keester, go ahead. Sure would be a waste of the little time you'll ever have to live, though. :)

I think you should do something...as much for your own self as for God. I do believe that because we are Christians (or whatever) we should help others and set a good example...much better than preaching and damning people to hell that we find too often in the fanatic fringe.

i beleive personally that no matter what you decide to do with your life god will always love you; the only thing i would think insults god is treatng yourself or others disrespectfully. i mean did jesus die on the cross so we would have 9 to 5 jobs and cubicle offices?

It is a sin, a huge sin against you, even when you're not all that you've got... I think every inteligent creature on Earth (yes, I mean the dolphins too) should agree on that.

Our life is a gift. If we want to do nothing with it then that's ok. We can also trade it in if we wish for a life with GOD. I personally think it's a no brainer but I am a bit biased.
Grace and peace to you sis.

Like the line from the old song "It's my life, and I'll do what I want" infers, you can do just that, but there will come a time that you'll feel like life passed you by, gave you chances, and you wasted it.

Ephesians 2:10
For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
