By far the most versatile military bird I ever flew was the F-111. That one could do it all: air to ground attack, high or low altitude bombing, mach 2.5+, low altitude penetration, precision bombing, even air-to-air if you were good enough. I once danced with a MiG-21 for a minute or so and got away with it. Of course I'm an old guy now and feel certain some of the younger pilots have better machines than we did.

Hmmm.. where to begin...
WWII: P-51, P-38, F-4-U, FW-190, Spitfire
Korea: F-86, F-9-F Panther
Vietnam: F-4, A-6, A-4
Today: F-18 Super Hornet, F-15 Strike Eagle, F-22 Raptor/F-35 JSF
Overall: My heart belongs to the 0-1 Birddog (L-19). It brought my Dad (Dreamhour) home from the war in Vietnam despite being shot down too many times.

there are so many!! I'll make it easier and choose the favourite two that I worked on in the military. The CF101 Voodoo was huge, pretty easy to work on and made a heck of a lot of noise. I rode in one a couple of times and as Long as I live I'll never forget that awesome ride, this thing could boogie!!!! The most visually appealing aircraft hands down was the F-5D with it's curvaceous shape it was downright sexy

I am a bit biased because I worked the B-52 for 27 years but it's my favorite and the most durable aircraft the Air Force has ever owned.

I dunno. It's a toss up between the Sopwith F. 1 "Camel", the Fokker Dr.1, the Fokker D.VII and amazingly enough the 1913 Etrich "Taube." The Taube was a gorgeous looking aircraft, but it had a strong tendency to have a wing separate from the aircraft in flight. Someone in Germany just recently built and then went to his death in a replica he'd just completed. I guess he was going for accuracy.
More modern? How about the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk? Has to be one of the sexiest single engine jet fighters ever.

First so a procedures as militia airplane, maximum won't debate that the P-fifty one replaced into and nonetheless is the perfect fighter that replaced into prop pushed. For our jet standards on the instant, the F-sixteen has continually been the main mind-blowing. i might concur with the respond in the previous supply with regard to the F/A 18, yet maximum scholars of the layout and flight residences of the F-sixteen vs. the F/A-18 might wager on the F-sixteen. i might wager on the F-sixteen. no longer that the F/A-18 isn't appealing in it rather is very own perfect. And on each occasion i think of of Naval Aviators, i will continually think of F-14, and now the F/A-18. the two appealing. Now if we are bearing in mind the F-22. Then that's the genuine extensive debate. because of the fact the F-sixteen has been dominant for see you later, it makes on hassle that it rather is unbeatable. yet having viewed demonstration video of the try flights with an F-22 try flying with a F-sixteen chase airplane, i'm now making of venture on the F-22 to be stronger interior the air. It merely is. so so a procedures as my favorites: P-fifty one for propeller pushed. F-sixteen for fighter of the twentieth century. And F-22 for fighter to start the twenty first century. notice that albeit some planes may well be older, they are merely as appealing now as while they first rolled off the line. those 3 will continually be like that.

I am a fan of the B-52 just because of it's amazing reality. However, I think the P-51 is ultimately the best.

No doubt, the P-51 Mustang. The best performing single engine prop plane ever.
