Wow I am a mother of an eight year old so I am not looking forward to dating scenarios. I am guessing if you are 12 in junior high you are closer to 13 than 12. I would talk to your parents and ask them what they consider is a suitable age to start dating. I would think with my daughter she can double date at 14 or go out with a group of friends, but no one on one dating until she is 16. Each teenager is going to be different though. Where is your maturity level? Please think about what kids are going to think about you if you start dating now. Will this give the example that you might be easy? I would say if you are 12 or 13 although it is exciting to think about being an adult, spend some time enjoying being a kid. Go to movies or the mall with your friends. Have fun meeting people, join some clubs at school and or your local church. Show your parents you are responsible enough to handle friendship outings first before you try to talk them into letting you date. You have your whole life ahead of you to have relationships with the opposite sex. Find out who you are first and respect yourself always. Learn how to say no even to friends. Sorry for the lecture, but I was your age once too and I remember all the peer pressure and emotional games that came with relationships from bf/gf. There are definetly things I wish I could take back.

Well there's the whole 6-7 grade 'going out' thing. Sure you can go ahead and do that, it's not really dating. Just basically talking to guy/girl more. For real outside of school dates, I'd say 14. Group dates at 13 would be fine w/ me as long as the boy in question is alright.

A good age to start dating at is about 14yrs, or maybe 15yrs. But do not be in a rush to start dating go out with your friends both girls and boys in a group and have fun. About what (ally_sam…) said about high school guys yeah some of them are really jerks but not all. Still I would advice you if you should ever start dating anytime soon. Go out with guys in your age group.

Group dating would be good around 13-14 so you can get comfortable in the situation before you start the one on one dating in high school.

16 or older. Where would you go? It's not like you can drive. Where I'm from places even have a curfew for kids under the age of 18. We have 2 malls and both of them on Fri and Sat night escort you out at like 6 pm and will not let you in without a parent/guardian over the age of 18. They ask for ID for anyone who looks under 18. Not much left to do here other than hangout at the malls. Kinda pointless to "date" if you cant go anywhere.

Dating??? Where the heck are you going to go at age 12? I understand the boys like girls thing (and vice versa), but to "date" is sort of unrealistic at this time. How about group activities to the movies, bowling, amusement park, miniture golfing? Stick with a group, please. I know it sounds old fashioned and lame, but you're very young. I'm not a fan of having a boyfriend at age 12. Relationships get serious and at age 12 (even older people struggle) you're not mature enough to understand everything they involve.

I didn't officially date until 15... we would hang out in groups around 12/13 though. but it all depends on maturity and your parents rules.

I started dating when I was 14. I would start once you are in high school because you can experience the party/formal experience. Good luck!

I started dating at eleven... but stay away from high school guys - they can be real jerks sometimes! I remember I dated this guy in high school... he pushed me into a pool (I happened to be wearing a white t-shirt and no bra) and then the next day, told all his friends about my boobs... such a jerk!
