Yes! What you are use is just a part of the application, there are parts of the application on the comupter that are not in the upgrade. Some software even search for a previous installation of the application.

What happened? Some body loan you a copy of their application and tell you it would load without having a previous version installed?

Yes, that's why it's called an upgrade, instead of a Full $$$ Version. It only allows you to upgrade from an older version of Office.

YES.... in the PROFESSIONAL upgrade you need ANY office program(2000-2007) installed, any office suite, or Microsoft Works 6.0-8.0 installed if you have any of these you are good...
