My biological father doesn't like my cousin which is a very important person in my two year old sons life. His birthday is in 3 weeks and my father won't attend the party if my cousin is there. So do I let my sister throw him another party because of my fathers selfishness or do I tell them that if they want to come to the party then they have to come to the one I am having and put their differences asside for 3 hours on 1 day for my son?

You tell them that you are having one party and that they are all adults and need to get over themselves. They are there for your son, not for eachother. No one is saying they have to talk to eachother or be buddies - but they should be adult enough to be able to be in the same area for a couple hours to celebrate a birthday.

My opinion is why make a day that is suppose to be about your son and his Birthday, end up being stressful.
Why would it hurt to have two separate parties?
That way his Birthday is Special to him, with out any family squabbling going on. He will sense the animosity.
It is about your son. Make the Birthday the best you can, for his sake. Even if you have to have two separate parties.
Plus he gets two parties instead of one. He will surely like that.

Happy Birthday to your son.
If you do have just the one Birthday Party. Good luck and I hope all goes well. Who knows, it will probably go just fine.

This situation justifies two parties. Not to pacify your father, but for your son. Your son deserves to spend time with his grandfather and your cousin for his birthday.

Tell him they all have to get along and whoever doesn't accept that has to deal with their own problems on another day. That is ridiculous...personally, that's what i think.....best of luck

your dad needs to grow up. he should put away his issues for the sake of the child. if he can't or won't attend, thats his loss. why should your sis go out of her way to appease him? it's your son, your home. period. this is just dumb. one birthday is enough, especially for a 2yr old.
