forget about it... i mean just because you dont like the bible doesnt mean you cant believe in god...

and i really dont think god cares if we worship him/her/it or not....

as long as we are kind to others and good people.. i dont think god cares about anything else..

faith is important not religion.

I'm not sure if you want someone to reassure you of the Christian faith, or if there really is a God. Well after being an atheist for 2 years and then going back to one of the major religions, I now know that we didn't come from monkeys, and that evolution and darwinism are dead. This all couldn't have happened by accident. When the sun and moon line up for an eclipse...and the two speheres are exactly the same size, I am reminded that none of this happened by chance, and that I believe in god. As far as reassuring you about the Bible, well let me give you an analogy: Your in a room with, for example 3 doors (Bible, Qur'an, Torah) But you only open one of those doors, why not open the others and see whats in them... or at least learn about them. I recommend you stay away from polemics, and if you want to learn about a certain religion, then go to the source of each. Knowledge is light, hopefully it will bring you out from the darkness and help you find your way.

My guess is that you are more than likely in your teen years - or maybe older and just starting to make personal choices apart from what your parents/family have taught. Scripture talks about such as are in that position. The parable of the two sons (Luke 15:11-32). The one son never left while the other left for a time and returned.

Better to never leave - but there are times within some peoples life that they do. Not unheard of - but not a wise thing to do.

With the assumption that you are around the age that I guess at - such is very common. There are many outside factors that are going to draw you out to do things and think about things that are not pleasing to God. Point is that the devil is still active and will continue to be so till the return of Jesus.

My suggestion - find someone that you know to have a good relationship with God and talk to them about the feelings that you are going thru. Pray with them about the situation. Consider the things within your life that may be drawing you away from God (TV alone has enough on it to undermine every teaching of God to be sure). Get involved with a group of people your age that have been where you are - or maybe are there now and also need someone to lean up and fellowship with.

That you have mixed feelings is nothing new. There is a whole book within scripture where all sorts of strange thoughts people were having is recorded (Job) and God's reply to such. Remember that God allowed those thoughts and addressed those thoughts.

In the world that we live in, I would be shocked if someone didn't question about the reality of God with so much negative about Him out there. The world as it is very much will fight against followers of God. That you are under attack - a good indication that you very well are His child. He still is there to help you thru even this.

Its a good book. The stories are good, but to make a religion out of it is a serious mistake in my opinion.

Theres nothin wrong with not believing the Bible. Its been edited and distorted so much over the course of history and theres so many inconstistant things in it that I can easily understand someone doubting it and feeling theyre being lied to when reading it.

Disbelieving the Bible doesnt mean you have to stop believing in God. There may well be some power out there that has something to do with the creation of the universe. My personal idea though, is that the Christian god is like any other bronze-age creation myth, created to explain things that humans dont understand and to make it seem like the world makes some kind of sense. (the fight between "good" and "evil" for example).

Make up your own mind hon, dont believe it just because you were raised to. If you have serious doubts about it, go out and look for something better and that suits you more.

Hope that helps, good luck and all the best to you

Perhaps, instead of saying "f" the Bible, read it and look at it from a different point of view. Instead of reading it through someone else's eyes, read it from your own eyes. See what it says to you, not what your pastor says it says to you. There are many ways of looking at it. One way is as the literal and infallible Word of God. Another way is fallible man's interpretation on what God told them to write. Another way is a collection of stories that detail how certain people in the past have viewed their relationship to God. The Bible can be looked at as a book of advice.

As illustrated above, there are many ways of accepting the Bible and finding a way to incorporate it into your life. If all it does is give you hope, even though you feel science explains things correctly, or logic is the answer...if it merely makes you feel good, then at least some gain can come from the Bible.

You'll probably draw some mean responses with this question.

It really is not unusual for people who are religious growing up to start questioning aspects of their religion as they get older - particularly in this day and age.

Many times we start to doubt when things are going bad in our lives.

May I recommend that you put down the bible for a little while, reflect on all the good things that you have in your life. Learn to truly be thankful. (I'm not being mean here; it is hard for people sometimes to remember all the good they have in their lives.)

Do some volunteer work with the elderly or homeless. It will make you feel good inside and truly blessed.

Then attend a church service and see if you start to believe again.

Just some recommendations for you. I too went through a period of doubt in my life, but found my faith again at age 23.

I noticed some of your responses to past questions: "we are made to worship God," and "Read the 10 Commandments," and, "we are not here to satisfy our needs outside of Christianity." They show you are committed and dedicated to God.

They also make me wonder if you are perhaps putting a lot of pressure on yourself that God doesn't really want. God wants us to enjoy life. When we see him as our friend and father, when we see him as a giver of joy and happiness, when we see the gifts he gives us and the prayers he answers, it makes us want to worship him. It makes us want to know him and believe in him. To me, the bible says we WILL worship him when we see him for what he is... It does not DEMAND we worship him.

Considering your question says, "F the bible," I wonder if you are angry. Sometimes we develop anger towards God for something that happened to us. A prayer we feel he didn't answer, something bad that happened to us. Anger is frequently a reaction to being hurt. And, it is ok to be angry with God, but it usually doesn't make sense because God doesn't hurt us, we just think He did.

Talk to him like you would a friend. Tell him how you feel about the Bible right now. Ask him to reveal why you feel so angry.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

(Galatians 5:22-23) On the other hand, the fruitage of the spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.

The best thing you can do is to check out the facts.

When you go to sites on the web
FIRST try and see what point of view they are supporting and then read it knowing that it is slanted towards that view. Look at BOTH sides of the argument and make up your own mind.

What have you been feeding on? Who have you been listening to? If you embrace the world and its ways, you are making friends with the enemy of God. James says "What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. And you are envious and can not obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so you may spend it on your pleasures. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (James 4:1-4)
I think any time a feeling or impulse comes over us, we need to consider from where it comes. We keep company with the world not only in the friends we associate with, but in the movies we watch, the music we listen to, and the things we read and the thoughts we allow. If we place these things in our lives we become susceptible to their influences, and their influences may lead you away from the Lord down a path you don't want to go. If you are serious about God you can be certain that the Devil is serious about tripping you up, and he sends his agents, demon spirits, to keep an eye on you, waiting to turn you aside from following after the Lord. Demons may whisper a blasphemous thought into your mind, looking to see what kind of reaction they get. If the thought is not resisted they will persist at it until they wear you down, and if your passivity continues, they just may move in and make themselves at home.
We get lazy and sidetracked so easily, but the Devil is in this for keeps. Peter says he goes about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour; he say "whom resist, steadfast in the faith".
If you don't resist, you are already defeated, like a dead fish floating downstream. Salvation is a gift, received by faith in Jesus, but if you don't contend for it, it is likely to slip right out from between your fingers.
I suggest you turn to the Gospels and ask the Lord to speak to you. Tell Him where you are, and He will come to helpl you. Ask Him to give you his Holy Spirit. Remember He said "I am the Vine, you are the branches" and "apart from Me, you can do nothing". Jesus will never force himself on you, but the Devil has no qualms about using force or seduction, whatever achieves his ends.
"But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, 'God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble.' Submit yourself therefore unto God. Resist the Devil, and he will flee from you." (James 4:6,7)
Peace to you !
