I think it has more to do with wanting to feel special, chosen, and above animals.

I think it's a combination of pride and fear. They seem to be too proud to have "come from a monkey" for sure. It's why they always counter the idea with "but maybe you did". Of course the whole monkey thing is their misunderstanding (purposeful or otherwise) of evolution.

Fear plays a role as well because if they accept the reality of evolution, their Bible becomes false. Not that it isn't, but they'd have to admit their religion is based in falsehoods. Wait, maybe that's pride as well.

You mean to tell me that the small rodent like mammals that survived the last extinction event were able to evolve in to the mammoth in the short geologic time that passed? Viruses today have had millions of generations come and go over the years and yet still they haven't moved up the evolutionary ladder into becoming a more complex organism.. Evolution is an unverifiable theory that science should reject because the results are not verifiable nor reproducible... Jim

I am proud to say that my ancestors were monkeys!! Seriously though, I don't think it's pride, I think it's fear. If they admit that, they're admitting that there is no god, and that means that they have to rely on themselves, instead of putting everything off on god. I don't think that christians are bad people, just a little weak, and in need of a crutch to hold them up when times are bad. I mean think about it, it's easier to be a sheep, and let a book dictate your moral compass than to make decisions about the universe as you see it, and question the norm, and decide on your own morals. They've just taken the easier path...just sheep.

Pride has nothing to do with it. Creationists truly believe that God created human beings the way it says He did in the Bible.

I suggest you at least try to understand their beliefs, do some research, and be less ignorant with the way you ask this question next time.

Honestly ask yourself if your question was presented with an irrational, mocking attitude.

Whatever your answer, I encourage you to visit some of the websites I will provide at the end of this. Yes, they are bias, but at least you might understand that there is A LOT of scientific research being put into creationist theories, and Christians aren't just sitting on their butts in church believing whatever it is they are told. It's not just as simple as believing in the story of God creating Earth in 7 days.

A lot of it does come down to whether or not you believe in the "supernatural." If you do believe it, then the story of God creating Earth is very possible. If you do not believe it, then you probably don't believe in the stories of the Bible, but it is worth looking at the following websites to be more understanding:

Are evolutionists too proud to accept they came from human beings and *not* apes?

Neither are we too proud when we choose to rather believe the account given in the Biblical record or the fact that we kneel at the foot of the cross being convinced of our desperate and hopeless situation, being in sin and in need of a savior.

that's not the reason I don't believe in macro-evolution. If you wanna believe your great great....grandfather was a neanderthal, go ahead. I just think the fossils found are the misfits among homosapiens. you know they have had similar cases recently... or atleast in the 20th century...

I have many reasons to disbelieve in macro-evolution, such as lack of repitition, gaps in theories, or maybe the fact that it's a theory and doesn't have to be accepted.

but pride? no. no one's better than me and I'm not better than anyone. my brain might be better evolved though...

can duplicate YOUR choice of a simple LIFE form ???

Well they say we all came from 2 people. That is worse than a hairy ape.
Did they come from an earlier species...yes.....simpler?.......could a primate be any simpler than a Fundy.

And you should know that the Association of Primates for Excellence & Science (APES) are also denying that they could have evolved into creationists.
