Google Desktop Users, Does using this affect computer performance?

I was just wondering, because a friend said that it does, but this friend also suggested stopping most of my services on services.msc and he's a bit of a maniac. on the other hand the google documentation (obviously) says that it wont affect your performance.

I have noticed an effect on a work system and not my home PC.

Yes....a bit, but don't care about it, it's really cool! i use it now...
