Oh yes Chippy I am always saying that, rotflmbo...its a great conversation starter. The earth is proof of wonder and glory...I hate the word intelligent design. (STOP GLOBAL WARMING NOW). Lots of universe still out there.
Chippy...I find spiritual renewal in nature and the beauty of the world and universe...that is not the same as intelligent design.

I personally see it as a way to try to use the the only thing that some people believe in to help these people see that there is more than science. I know of scientists far brighter than anyone that has ever typed a message in R/S that still believe in God. While many people think that this earth and evolution could have happened randomly, I think that the complete evidence suggests otherwise. I do believe in many aspects of evolution, not just the whole thing.
Not all Christians are right. Not all scientists are wrong. I am not all knowing, but I do try to use good grammar and spell check my messages.

The chances that life began here in a pool of chemically charged water in a toxic atmosphere struck by a bolt of lightening is 1 chance in 10 to the 40,0000 power... If God created life on this insignificant speck of dust why in all the millions of stars wouldn't he have done the same thing again and again? There is nothing in the scripture to say He didn't. Sometimes just looking up into a night sky is enough to see through nonsense like that.... Jim

It's an artefact of paradigms, if you will forgive the words.
If you start with the assumption of divine creation and a young earth that provides a framework on which nearly all specific items of data *can be made to hang*. This can be thought of, with only a minor leap of flawed logic, as the data confirming the truth of the underlying assumption.
Don't knock Christians too hard for it, as it happens with almost all frameworks, including scientific ones (though this is often skipped over in simple positive accounts of "the progress of science").

But what we do see all points to God, I mean when I studied creation it covered:
Ice rings on planet, craters, why Mars apparetly held water, moon crater, the earth, the beginning, the moon, all the planets, the fact that if the universe were expanding faster or slower it would not be inhabitable for life, grand canyon, dinosaurs, origin, life, purpose, and many other things!!!!
Creation answers most questions, while evolution opens many more without solving a thing:

Seems like the last I checked no one has ever seen the earth being designed. If prettiness were proof of design then snowflakes must be proof of snow pixies.

Christians will claim anything, especially if is supports their aging and out of date belief system. Much of what they claim was fed to them via pulpit. Church leaders have a vested interest in keeping the masses believing.

Of all the stars and planets that exist, the chances that this is the only one that supports life are very, very thin
