It is indoctrination, when us kids are only in school to memorize facts and then just to regurgitate them on a test, and cant even explain the answers correctly or why world war 2 happened not just when, education in America is really in trouble, were all just being told to memorize not think.

At the point where they teach you to memorize 'facts' rather than help you develop methods of critical thinking and using logic and insight. When it's politically motivated and biased but the concept of bias isn't acknowledged or taught. When parrot fashion answers that have been cut and pasted from the Internet become acceptable as work. When brainwashing techniques like the pledge of allegiance are intrinsic to the system.

It's a thin line... almost from the start, when you tell a child something, you're indoctrinating.

I think we use the word more for an education that shows no options. It TELLS you what to think, and does not allow you to make decisions for yourself.

Of course this kind of education can be disguised with clever teaching to make students THINK they are THINKING for themselves... but that's another story.
