Microsoft's programmers (problems with computer programs are called bugs, and the people who put them there are called ... programmers!) are evidently so fed up of this one, that Windows Vista now just has a button with the Windows logo on it, without the word "Start"!

To have put in an exit button in windows would have required years of research and resulted in a higher end-market cost for an already, over rated, over priced albatrose.
Besides, they would had out source to India to look up the word in the dictionary.

Choose one:
1. Because that is where they put the EXIT command?
2. Because you're STARTing to EXIT

Because the Microsoft programmers said so. It sounds dumb to me, too. You'd think they would have programmed it to change to "close" after Windows was in use, but they didn't, so we deal with it.

Because to exit something you have to start something first. If you want to exit something which hasn't started yet, you can't exit it, it did never start, then it doesn't exist. that's why.
