The latest is LT GEN Kiley from the Walter Reed scandal. They still get their pension and I know for a fact that when they are retired, they get better health care than your normal retired enlisted. I also know that they get better care than the people they allowed to live in substandard conditions.

As far as how I know they get better treatment, I was in for almost 15 years. Some of it at Bethesda, some on submarines and some with the Marines. I saw it every day. So, skippy dippy, blow that out your bung.

Think whatever you want Team Chief. I asked a question, not for a personal attack. If all you want to do is make personal attacks on people, which I see on quite a few of your "answers", then enjoy yourself.

Why does anyone get to retire in the government and not held accountable for incompetence?

How about Louis Freeh and the FBI that missed the rise of Al Quada in America?

CIA Chief George "Slam Dunk" Tenant and WMD's in Iraq? (Oh, he got the Medal of Freedom for his success).

Or those Nasa scientists and engineers that sent the Discovery into space with a busted tile?

When I first read the question I thought you were talking about the generals being fired or coerced into retirement for disagreeing with the president on the war.
Anyway, I don't think we have enough info. to know where the blame lies. Generals don't decide the budget for the hospitals. If the bush admin. failed to allocate enough funding to walter reed, then the blame goes higher than a general. Did the folks in charge of the hospital request more funding? From Congress? From the bush admin.? Where does the funding come from and how is the money allocated? A democratic congress will get to the bottom of it. The Bush admin. is looking for fallguys, and of course, they always go after the generals., home and abroad.

Because a general has givin thirty plus years of his life to this country and he commited no crime. The generals and the congress before him in the case you mentioned are the cause of the conditions at walter reed, he was just the right man in the right place for the blame. It is more disgraceful to ask a senior millitary offical to retire than it is to court martial him. How would you feel if the one job you had your entire adult life, the one thing you loved was taken away from you for some one elses screw up?

The worst part is that we have more Generals now than at the Height of World War II, when there were ten million men in the Army. We have Generals doing jobs that used to be done by enlisted men. General has become just one more political appointee.

The military is a special breed (interpret that as you will), but law enforcement and the military have a tendency to cover each other's backs. While hindsight is 20/20, and it's easy to be a armchair general, life is a little harder.
I agree it's tough to see this, these men have taken 30 years out of their lives and should be held accountable, but face it, the "brotherhood" is a strong and stubborn animal.

Just how do you "know for a fact that when they are retired, they get better health care than your normal retired enlisted?" Just how do you know this, skippy? I'm retired Air Force, and I can tell you right now that a retired officer, no matter what his rank, gets the same quality care as a retired enlisted person.

Cite some sources, please, anything to show that you're not just blowing this out your butt.

Which I think you are.

ADDED COMMENT: So you say "personal experience;" well, genius, my personal experience says otherwise. Maybe you squids got treated like crap when you were in, but that's not the case in the Air Force. I think the whole thing is that you got your butt kicked out of the Navy (after all, you served 15 years and didn't retire? Hmmm....) and are just PO'd about it.

Which means you're blowing it out your butt. Just another disgruntled swabbie looking to mouth off.

ADDED: Disabled. Right. And I'm Admiral Nelson.

I agree with you 100%. Let's keep a couple of the Walter Reed rooms the way they are and use them exclusively for those generals' health care appointments.

what about all the things he did to become an Army general before he got assigned to walter reed....

blame the commander in chief ; he should be held accountable for everything by your logic...let's cut off his pension in 2 years!

Did you know Lt Gen Kiley started his command last Sept? His firing was to take heat off of people who were there before him, and those who fund the hospitals.

If they were enlisted they would be punished. Officers will always get the best treatment. When I was in the military the Officers could do anything they wanted to and not have to face punishment.
