I've had this problem for a couple of years, but have grown to overlook it. Doctors have commonly mistaken it for allergies or have prescribed me expectorant, but allergy medication doesn't work and phlegm never comes up. The last time I went to the doctor (a couple months ago), he couldn't find anything wrong with me, and asked me if I'd been around any chemicals. He prescribed me expectorant which toned down the problem slightly, but no phlegm came up from the medication. Sometimes I force myself to cough to get whatever it is up, and constantly clear my throat, but it doesn't help. Now, I noticed I have a small white bump to the left of that dangling thing in my throat. What's going on?

It's not allergies, people. I said that a few times above. I have seasonal allergies in the spring and sometimes fall...I don't think people have seasonal allergies in the winter. This is a constant problem.

Also, there is no tickling sensation, I constantly feel like I have phlegm or mucus in the back of my throat. However, nothing ever comes up when I do clear my throat or force myself to cough.

Oh yeah...and I don't think that I've had post nasal drip for two-three years that has gone unoticed by my doctors.

Consult an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist. U might be having post nasal discharge because of some chronic infection in back of internal nose (Nasopharynx) which tickles down on ur throat and constantly irritating it.

My room mate in college had really bad allergies (as she claimed) and used to do it constantly. To the point where I thought she has an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
