In the Bible cremation is portrayed only as an exceptional method of disposing of bodies. Most often cremation took place in the midst of unusual circumstances. For example, in 1 Samuel 31:12 we read about the men of Jabesh-Gilead who burned the corpses of Saul and his sons in order to prevent desecration of their bodies at the hands of the philistines.
We don't find cremation mentioned in the New Testament. Burial is the normal method. Moreover, the church fathers preferred "the ancient and better custom of burying in the earth."
However, there is no actual prohibition against cremation in the pages of Scripture. And if a Christian does get cremated, this poses no problem for God in resurrecting that person's body from the dead (1Cor 15:42-44).
We read in 2 Cor 5:1, "Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands." It does not matter how our "earthly tent" (body) is destroyed; all that matters is that God will raise it from the dead. Even those who are buiried eventually dissolve into dust and bones. So regardless of whether we're buried or cremated, we can all look forward to a permanent resurrection body that will never be subject to death and decay.

It isnt specific , this is why so many ppl have varying beliefs. It does say we will return to ashes, and we do. The Bible doesnt not talk about cremation, but I sure have a problem with it myself, as God never says to do it. He says we will return to ashes when we die, nowhere do I see He says we must hurry the process.. We will do it naturally, so whats the point? Just to not have a spendy funeral...??? Thats not required either. The Bible does not speak for or against organ donation either, so again, many varying beliefs. It seems like a good idea, but again it bothers me, as it is not specified, and God tended to be pretty specific on things. I believe He doesnt mention it, cuz He doesnt want us to go thre, but thats my belief. You must do what you feel God wants you to do, and the only way you will know that is by much Bible study, and prayer. I think its great that you are looking at these things tho and wanting to do the right thing. I will pray for you to receive the answers you are asking for.

Dont worry :)
I asked somehting like this earlier. I was concerned ebcause most of my family were cremated, and I was wondering about the people who believe we reserect when the world ends and so on.
Anyway, I've being doing my researching, and I've realised that I was silly to even ask. When we die we leave our bodys, so it doesn't matter really what happens to our flesh the only thing that goes up there is our souls we need to look after them seen as we do get judged on them :)

Some say that you shouldn't be cremated because of something it says in revelation, how God will raise up the dead, etc. and how can you be raised if you're cremated, blah blah blah. I say that if God can create the earth, give up his Son, and perform miracles, he can put you back together. Have your ashes scattered, and returned to God's creation.

I don't think it says much about cremation. Personally I plan on donating whatever parts they can't use to research (specifically in the field of forensic entomology where they let you body decay naturally) because I find the embalming process to be ghastly (in it's most literal sense).

At a time when many cultures cremated their dead, the biblical families buried theirs.

i dont recall anything in the bible pertaining to how to treat your remains. it was a cultural thing back then, and Jesus was concerned with the spirit, and not the flesh.
just my opinion, but hope that helps

Nothing really. Most of that is a matter of cultural customs. Once your dead, your body doesn't really matter, it's your soul God cares about.

Not much! The main thing is to be ready to go to heaven when you die. Are you ready to go to heaven?
Jesus Christ Is the One and Only Way To Heaven!
In The Holy Bible, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. He meant “I am the only way to God the Father and to heaven”, “I am the only truth that you need to know.” and “I am the only spiritual life available to mankind.” In other words, “I am the only true and living God.”
All other so-called gods are false gods. They are not real. They do not exist. Satan creates counterfeit gods, religions and faith in them. They appear to be the genuine articles but they are false. They are phony. They are bogus. No other so-called god has the power to forgive, cleanse and remove all your sins from you to get you to heaven. They don't even claim to.
I pray you will believe this and accept the fact that you are a sinner needing to be saved from your sins (“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23, The Holy Bible.) and accept the fact that the blood Jesus Christ shed for you at Calvary is the only way you can have your sins forgiven, cleansed and removed and is the only way you can get to heaven. I pray you will acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask Jesus Christ to forgive, cleanse and remove all you sins and accept Him into your heart/life to live for Him the rest of your life. (“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12, in the Holy Bible.) That is what it means to be born again. (“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 in The Holy Bible.) Salvation is a free gift. You cannot work for it. You cannot be good enough to earn it. You must, by faith, receive it as a free gift. (“8For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast.”) Ephesians 2:8-9.
God loves you and it is not His will that you perish in hell.
(“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9 in The Holy bible.)
This is my prayer for you
