I am an American living in Tunisia and I love Tunisia very much! The country is so full of history (has been under the rule of Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs, Berbers, Ottomans, Beys, and French; played a significant part in WWII, was the center of the ancient world with Carthage as the capitol, etc) and it has so many beautiful places to visit! It is unlike any other Arab country in that is has a lot of greenery. There are also many historical ruins in just about every part of the country you go to.
The people are so warm and hospitable. They instantly welcome you as one of their own and treat you like family. Tunisia is also a very safe place. There are not many places in this world where a women can walk the streets alone in the middle of the night without fear. Yet I often take late night walks and have never had any problems and have never felt fearful.
Tunisia on a whole is a very safe country. I have lived in Tunis and Monastir and have visited other parts of the country without any problem. I do advise normal safety rules that are applicatable elsewhere, such as not dressing provocatively and to be aware of your surroundings.
The mountain region is breathtaking! There are fantastic views and an the atmosphere is reminiscent of an old town in Switzerland. Absolutely gorgeous! The coast is marvelous. The Sea is clear and picturesque. The midland and south are terrific because they offer you the chance to peek into a forgotten society - one that holds fast to tradition. I have been all over Tunisia and have visited most cities and have loved everyone because they each have their own special charm.
To learn more about Tunisia, I invite you to read any of my blogs, or look at any of my pictures.

Depends on what you are after ??
Cuba is fantastic but maybe not in July due to extremes of weather.
Try Tenerife, yes they have their equivalent of Blackpool but the people who think that is Tenerife are very narrow minded. Tenerife is great - its got Mount Teide, lots of natural beauty, its great for treking and also you can pop over to many of the other islands such as Gomera, Las Palmas, Heirro etc
They also have an observatory and the island of Gomera is like stepping back in time - they also communicate via whistling !
You are near to the coast wherever you choose to stay, even if you stay inland near the volcano its not far to the beach. Also fish is a staple food item, due to it being an island - in fact all the food is great.
Hope you try it - I love the place and its got something to offer everyone.

Charleston...without a doubt. There is so much culture...and beaches are close by. Walk out on the piers and swing in one of the swings they have while the wind blows in your face. Take a ghost walk tour...I recommend the ones at night...adds to the drama. there is too much to list. go to the market to shop...the market itself is full of history. My favorite place to go...I'm thinking about having my wedding there! I have family that are going to have to travel so why not have them travel to a destination.

I found it was like that in Eqypt, and very quiet too. But I was in Sharm el sheik when the bombs went off in 2005, I had to go early, but I'm lucky to be alive!
