I've been in construction for 25 years and I've remodeled kitchens are you looking for ideas? most of the time it depends on the layout of the area to be remodeled and if there is any other area than can be opened up or an adjoining room that area can be taken from. I live in a small town and never took pictures of the projects. Most of the business was word of mouth.

Be ready to spend a lot. I remodeled mostly the kitchen and the bathrooms 2 years ago. Being very frugal we spent $60,000.00 I will say I was making changes to a 30 year old house that I designed.

I went from dark walnut cabinetry to natural maple. Changed the tile in the kitchen and the bathrooms to light neutrals to open up the rooms. Changed all lighting fixtures and kitchen appliances..

My kitchen and dining room were two separate smaller rooms, I removed the dividing wall and now they are 16x 30.
The bathrooms and kitchen had the old dropped ceilings.
Because of cost I couldn't totally raise the ceilings, but instead I removed the dropped portions (that plastic ceiling stuff) then removed the florescent lights. Added trim to the edge where the ceiling went up into the lighting area. Painted them all out in custard yellow (very pale) Installed new covered fixtures in the raised areas. This made all three bathrooms and the kitchen much brighter and made the ceilings seem so much higher and less crowded.

In the kitchen where the area was raised for the lighting I had installed a stunning ceiling fan with lighting. It gives drama.
Then around the outside edge where the ceiling still dropped down over all of the counters I had cans installed to light all of the work area.

I am sorry that I do not have pictures. Good Luck It is a challenge.

I wish I had pictures, but we did an extensive remodeling of our 30 years old kitchen. We remove walls and relocated phone, appliances, ceiling, floors, etc.

My wife said she loves it but would never do it again, while we lived in the house. When you destroy the kitchen, it makes living there a little rough. We had the refrigerator in the middle of the family room, we had the coffee pot in the half bath. We had to go outside to get to the other side of the house. We took the floor down to the joists, put in new sub floor and then tiled half of the lower level while we were at it.

So you may want to find another place to live while this is going on, it would be a lot easier;

We recently remodeled our kitchen. One thing we did before remodeling was to think about how our kitchen was going to be used. Our children were grown, so we went from a kid friendly one to a more grown up kitchen to entertain guests.
If you think you'll be moving any time within the next 5 years, keep in mind that kitchen re dos really add value to your home. Going from laminate counters to any kind of stone/updating the floors/cabinets you will get your money's worth at resale time.
We opted for a stone counter top/ painted the cabinets ourselves and installed new flooring ourselves. The cabinets are dark red with pale mint walls/black Silestone counter tops, and black marble look flooring. We also ditched the old lights and installed new halogen lighting. We love our new kitchen.
